“The Hunting Party” – Are u ready for this?

Finalmente está em minha posse o 6º álbum de originais dos aclamados Linkin Park. E claro, num estilo inovador, com rock, mas sempre com muitas inovações. Desta feita, até com participações especiais, algo que é raro nos Linkin Park. Como Shinoda tantas vezes refere, fazer música é muito mais do que estar comprometido com um estilo, ao ponto de não poder experienciar outras sonoridades, e nisso os LP são uns corajosos. Uma banda com dois vocalistas de intenso carisma.

Diria que neste álbum todos os elementos da banda podem brilhar. Há muito espaço para a guitarra de Brad (o que é agradável, mais rock presente no álbum) e Rob, com a sua bateria, faz-se ouvir com mais clareza em The Hunting Party. Talvez Shinoda seja o que menos espaço tem, em termos vocais.

Desde as linhas de metal que a banda há muito vem a integrar nas suas faixas, a sons tribais, instrumentais apenas, punk e rock, este álbum é uma caixinha de surpresas (muito boas, acreditem). Page Hamilton, guitarrista e produtor na base do rock alternativo; Rakim, um Master of ceremonies bem conhecido; Daron Malakian (guitarrista de System of a Down) participa na faixa Rebellion e Tom Morello em Drawbar, guitarrista conhecido pelo seu trabalho nos Rage Against The Machine e Audioslave, actualmente faz a tour de Bruce Springsteen e E Street Band.

As letras são impossíveis de ignorar. Quem conhece Linkin Park, desde Hybrid Theory, sabe do que falo. Das poucas bandas em que podemos retirar uma mensagem de cada canção. Linkin Park são um vício por isso mesmo: pela sua mensagem forte e pela sua maneira muito própria de fazer música, sem receio de serem “colados” a outros estilos menos prestigiados do que o rock. Eu sou uma fã do rock de Guns n’ Roses, AC/DC, Nirvana, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam e desde 2001 de Linkin Park. Thirty Seconds To Mars são outra banda que muito me surpreendeu nos últimos anos. 

A par do rock antigo, o rock “moderno” que os Linkin Park têm criado para nós, ficará com toda a certeza na história da música. O rock exorciza qualquer demónio. O rock toca no nosso dark side. Ainda que muitos o neguem, que tenham medo, ele está dentro de todos nós. A música ajuda-nos a encará-lo.

Que a raiva que está dentro de todos nós, possa ser expelida um bocadinho em cada faixa.

Não consigo escolher uma favorita, pois estou rendida a todo o álbum, mas destaco e aconselho A Line In The Sand e Mark the Graves.

Mais um álbum fantástico e que traz um DVD de um concerto em Monterrey, México. Como eu disse, uma caixinha de surpresas.

Quero agradecer à pessoa mais maravilhosa da minha vida, que consegue sempre uma antecipação relâmpago, e desde há 14 anos (diria muitos mais até) me presenteia sempre com boa música. Foi maravilhoso chegar a casa e ter uma “The Hunting Party” à minha espera.

Finally I have in my possession the 6^th album by the so acclaimed Linkin Park. And , of course, with an innovative style, with rock but always something fresh. This time they even gathered some special guests, something not that common about Linkin Park. Like Shinoda says so many times, to make music is much more than being attached to a style to the point of not being able to experiment other musical types, and Linkin Park have the nerve to do it. A band with two lead singers who hold intense charisma.

I would say that in this album all band members have their moments. There’s plenty of room for Brad’s guitar (which is nice, more rock in this album) and Rob’s drums that are surely much more sonorous on The Hunting Party. Maybe Shinoda is the one with less “space” as far as vocals are concerned.

From metal (which is something that the band as integrated on their sound for some time now) to tribal sounds, instrumental only, punk and rock, this album is full of surprises (good surprises believe me). Page Hamilton, guitarist and producer, alternative rock genre; Rakim, a well known Master of ceremonies; Daron Malakian (System of a Down guitarist) participates on the track Rebellion and Tom Morello, well known for his work with Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave, presently on tour with Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band, on Drawbar.

The lyrics are impossible to ignore. People who know Linkin Park since Hybrid Theory days know what I’m talking about. They’re one of the few bands whose songs have a story, a message. Linkin Park are an “addiction” right because of that: the strong lyrics and the messages behind them and their very own way of making music without fear of being associated to other genres that may eventually be considered less prestigious than rock. I’m a fan of rock music: Guns n’ Roses, AC/DC, Nirvana, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam and, since 2001, Linkin Park. Thirty Seconds To Mars is another band that has surprised me a lot in the recent years.

Along with old school rock, “modern” rock brought to us by Linkin Park will surely remain in music history. Rock music exorcizes demons. It touches our dark side. Though many of us deny it and fear it, it exists within us all . Music helps us to face it.

Let the anger inside us be exorcized bit by bit on every track.

I can’t choose a favorite one, I surrender to the entire album. But allow me to highlight and advise you A Line In The Sand and Mark The Graves.

Another great album with a bonus DVD from a show the band performed in Monterrey, Mexico. Like I said before, a “box” full of surprises.

I would like to thank to the most wonderful person in my life who always manages to anticipate everyone else and, for 14 years now (I would even say for many more than that) keeps giving me good music. It was wonderful to get home and have a “Hunting Party” waiting for me.
